What is The Rhythm of Life?

In our lives, with its unwavering pace and focus on material success in modern society, we quite often become profoundly disconnected from our values and from one another.

This disconnection produces a competitive spirit where personal achievement takes precedence over welfare, and success is usually assessed as being able to outshine others. However, this particular worldview is fundamentally flawed, missing the point of internal fulfillment and the interconnection of living.

The Rhythm of Life Institute thinks the general demand to “get somewhere” in life is an expression of a broader misperception of what living genuinely means. When we eliminate societal expectations and relative methods of success, we’re left with the essence of who we are – a place where material gain is irrelevant. This change of perspective is vital.

In case a person lived on an island without societal pressures or demands, one’s value system would undoubtedly shift away from outside validation and toward an introspective conception of purpose and joy.

An Endless Pursuit of Self-Indulgence.

The continual search for the next success, the next acquisition, can create an emptiness. It’s a moving target, which hardly ever ends in permanent satisfaction. Upgrading and looking for even more is a treadmill of discontent. The Institute posits the void felt after achieving material success is a signal, a prompt to begin a journey inward. It is an opportunity to question the agitation and sense of inadequacy which usually comes after external success.

The modern lifestyle’s challenges are manifold. As we strive for progress, we’ve unintentionally turned against life, treating one another as adversaries rather than friends. This is mirrored in the combative language of business, where terms like “kill sheet” and strategic lessons from “The Art of War” run throughout our professional lives. Such a perspective of life opposes others and produces a culture of loneliness and seclusion.

We at the Rhythm of Life Institute, think this is not healthy for us. The competitive spirit disregards the fundamental human desire for connection and belonging. If 99% of people “fail” these competitive standards, it’s a collective loss. This is accompanied by serious inner pain, loss, and depersonalization, resulting in personality disorders and an inability to know oneself.

A Redefined Sense of Success

We wish to redefine what success means for ourselves by introducing a brand-new consciousness that prioritizes growth and health above competition. We envision a world where individuals can discover their purpose and meaning beyond material achievement. In encouraging introspection and a whole-life perspective, the Institute aims to regain the lost link that contemporary living makes between us and enables us to be content with being as opposed to having.

We teach strategies for navigating life’s challenges through awareness, community, and personal fulfillment. We encourage our students to refocus their attention from social results towards a more sustainable and generative definition of achievement – one that has emotional and mental well-being, community involvement, and a goal that’s real to them.

The Rhythm of Life Institute aims to facilitate this internal process, therefore producing a society where achievement isn’t measured in comparison to other people but by the quality of one’s internal Life and contributions to the common good. We envision a world where life runs in step with all the currents of existence.
